But yeah, I agree, walking that road (without kids) may be faster than driving.

Hurley FSR + Branch 12 approach is fine. A lot of cross-ditches on Branch 12, so high clearance is a must, but otherwise it's in a very decent shape.

Though, new regulations prohibit discharge of firearms anywhere along roads in Davis lake area. So, in theory, Davis lake should be safe from stray bullets....

As far as I know there haven't been any underground mining on Burke mtn, only gravel pit.
You can check with Minfile if you want, but I'm pretty sure there is no mine shafts there....
