It may be possible to scramble the peaks north or south of Snowbird Pass (seen here). No bushwhacking required, but an 11km hike (one way from Berg Lake) to the pass is required....

From what I understand, the only way in or out of Crypt Lake is via a trail/tunnel from Waterton Lake in Alberta. The US side is a high, steep cliff. Never been there myself though so I can't confirm...

I have heard that Vitamin B is initially effective, but over time wears off and cannot be replinished even with higher doses. The only really effective repellents are DEET and Permethrin.
