Default why is this advert on here?

Hello,

I have not posted for a while but do occasionally browse despite the adverts that pop up everywhere. But I have to complain about the need for showing a commercial of someone getting a wolf into sight and then firing, presumably killing it. This popped up twice during this session. This is a site that should be dedicated to exploring and conserving the outdoors...not destroying it.

Moderator person......please take it down.

Shouldn't ads also follow the forum rules for posting, i.e. no hunting imagery?

Adds are individually served based on browser cache history. If you saw hunting related add, it only means you were looking at something related recently (outside of CT)

That being said adds are one of key reasons for immense degradation of once great site. Install add blocker. They are free. I have never seen single add here and never will

Where did you see this ad and can you provide a screenshot of it?

All day long, mad gun ads coming up on my Clubtread. Sometimes with an American flag flying in the background, sometimes with a cowboy dude looking real tough, and sometimes, just with someone getting ready to show a wolf who's boss. Screenshots-

Couple more. The first one maybe should be posted in "Gotta Love Gear"? I wonder if there is an ultra-light handgun available for longer backpacking trips...

It's probably because clubtread now does business with American based companies that sell firearms and promote the gun lobby, as noted here:

https://forums.clubtread.com/161-ven...ear-month.html

And then asks for a screenshot....

Edit: You know what, this is bullsh$t. Get the US gun ads off here now.

Should be able to enforce a filter of those ads from showing up. You're right that ads are chosen automatically by plugins and that we didn't choose that ad to show up. It's all done off of cookies and ad bots "best guess" at your demographic. Still, we should be able to control that type of ad from appearing.

Next time you get one, can you right click and "copy link address"? I don't think we need to track down the specific ad if we are just blocking a type of ad, but just in case the Ad Techs need it

I just did a test with Google Chrome in incognito mode, not logged in, and saw a hunting related video playing between the messages. After the ad played it disappeared. The URL was just the regular URL for this thread,

I think Candy is right, add bots are also feeding from site content (in addition to user cache), in this case that hunting company in vendor deals. Just when you thought it couldn't get any lower...

Thanks guys, this has been reported to our ad team who's currently looking into getting it taken down. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well, now you have our "approved" vendor adverting shotgun cases. Not served ads, not a bot, an actual post. As per usual the admins talk a good game but do $hit

Removed the thread and have reiterated rules and community theme to the ad teams.
