Exclamation Why Can't We EDIT Anymore?

Has anyone else noticed the ability to edit your posts is gone? It might be there for a few minutes after a new post, but then it disappears.

I'd like to hear from ADMIN about why this decision was made, and express my disapproval. It basically means we no longer have control over the content we post. My last TR has a mistake in it and I can't fix it! This is a concern for a number of reasons which aren't hard to imagine.

I just found the same thing when I posted my Blackcomb report. Reread it after posting and can't get back in to fix a few things.

The greatest signature ever, tribute.

* Bump - same experience here. Posted TR, the photos didn't show up properly, now I can't go back and fix it. Can we hear from admin on this issue?

Is this something that changed, and just became a problem recently ?

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............

Hey guys,

There is currently a time limit of 24 hours on editing posts. Was it unlimited before? It's possible a setting was reverted.

Hi Niall,

As has been shown above, the editing time is less than 24hrs. It's only a few minutes. This is a recent change (and uncommunicated to members). To my memory, the ability to edit posts was unlimited before this change. And that's the way it should be.

What did you change it to? Quick check tells me cannot edit posts that are older than a couple weeks.

This is a serious issue that posts have a time limit to edit. Many people are posting detailed trip reports that others seriously use to help guide themselves in the mountains. A mistake that cannot be changed in a report can lead to others getting lost or worst. This is definitely a new addition as there is no way it was here before. I believe this was put in place to stop long time users from editing there old posts to remove the content (aka Redbeard trip reports). First we can't delete posts, now we can't edit them? Ridiculous.

Hey Niall/ VS Admin folks,

I think that the edit function should be time unlimited for all users, all posts.

I can only speak for myself, but I think you'll find this change unfavorably received.
