Point for me is that we shouldn't have to ask permission or request to edit our content. Huge let down and rather underhanded in my opinion. As woodland.telegraph said, edit function should be unlimited.
Did the Powers that Be eliminate the ability to edit historical posts out of a fear that long-time users, disillusioned with what the site has become, would go back to their old trip reports and remove them (so they couldn't be monetized, or other reasons)?
Historically the site has never had unlimited editing. The way VB works editing can throw the sync of the site off if done to often or if the threads are not run through a rebuild to ensure the changes are properly synced to the DB. That is why asking an admin works, we go into the back end and rebuild threads.
