Recently, it has come to our attention that some temporary changes we made to our servers have caused some necessary scripts on site to be flagged and blocked by various ad-blocking programs.

If you use an ad block program, and are having trouble with the following, this may be affecting you:

• Attachments do not load
• Cannot post attachments
• Avatars do not load
• Drop down menus (ie Tools) do not work
• Quick Reply does not work
• Editor icons are missing

This does not mean you need to disable your adblocker entirely! We have narrowed down the scripts that have been blocked. All you need to do is whitelist them, and allow them to run for your browser.

Some programs (like Ghostery) will list the scripts currently blocked on the site you are visiting. In these programs, you can just deselect the ones labelled Verticalscope.

Other programs will need you to add them to a whitelist within the program settings. For these ones, it may take some trial and error. Some accept "verticalscope" (like AdBlock Plus), and others expect the URLs: static.verticalscope.com and comet-admin.verticalscope.com (like uBlock)

If you are not sure if you have an adblock installed, there are a few different places to check for one: it can be a browser extension, a stand-alone program, or an add-on to your antivirus.
If you run more than one adblock, you will need to whitelist the scripts in each program.

This is a temporary workaround until tech can finalize the changes they are making to the server (timeline is currently looking at late June).

Some guides to correct this, reported from other communities:

If you are using Adblock Plus:
1- Click on adblock icon
2- Go to 'Filter Preferences'
3- Go to 'Custom Filters'
4- Click on 'Exception Rules'
5- Click on 'Add Filter' (top right)
6- Enter this and hit Enter:
If you are using uBlock Origin:
1- Click on uBlock icon
2- Click on the little gear on the top left
3- Go to 'My filters'
4- Enter this:
5- Click 'Apply changes'

If you are using Ghostery:
1- Click on Ghostery icon
2- Click 'View all trackers'
3- Scroll to VerticalScope and choose the shield icon (Trust on this site)


**These steps are for Firefox extensions, but Chrome should have similar paths.

Global fix:
Visit http://www.verticalscope.com with your adblockers on
In your settings, disable the adblocker for this site
This should carry across all VS domains
