Default Malware in advertisements

Hey site admins, You might want to have a few words with your advertisers. I can't remember what I did to trigger it, and I can't reproduce it, but when I think it was when I clicked on one of the "Recent Discussions" I got taken to one of those fake "You need to update your browser now" sites where they give you an EXE to download.

Hey there

Thanks for letting us know, and trying to recreate it for more information. It is much appreciated. There is another report of this from our other communities, and it is currently being investigated by tech.

Can you let me know what browser you are using? So far Chrome and Firefox are the ones being targeted, so I want to confirm there is not a new browser.

I'm adding ClubTread to the report.

I haven't come across it since, so I'm afraid I don't have any particularly helpful information. I was using Firefox at the time.

I use adblock for a lot of sites, not here though. I don't mind the ads, they aren't very intrusive. Haven't seen any malware on my machine running Chrome browser + Sophos Home anti virus. I am sure the owners of the Clubtread domain make some revenue to keep this site up and running from the ads that are displayed though, so I am happy to put up with it to support the site.

That is good to hear. Tech ran a sweep, and contacted our ad partners, so whatever was there should be gone now.

Thanks for reporting
