Problem: Submitting to the forum is slow.

There are a few things that we are doing to optimize this and it will be done shortly. In the meantime, please be patient as submitting a message may take up to 5 seconds but it will go through.

You may have noticed that email notifications are currently not being sent out for new messages. This has been done for a couple reasons:

* The emailing was being done during the submission process. As a result this caused severe performance issues and would make posting take as long as 45 seconds.

* Users who did not want to receive a larger volume of notifications were being notified.

Currently, the notification system has been disabled. This will soon be replaced with a more sophisticated messaging system that will split the mailing process from the posting process thereby reducing the posting time from 45 seconds to 1 second.

In addition, the messaging system is being updated to allow for 4 different subscription modes:

1. Notify me all the time (as it was before).
2. Give me daily summaries.
3. Give me weekly summaries.
4. Don't notify me at all.

This new feature will essentially allow you to choose any combination of above. For example, I like to see all messages but also like weekly summaries. There will be an easy interface which will allow you to select.

Please let me know if there are any other features with respect to this that you would like to see. Perhaps I could fit them in with this release, or at least consider them for the next release.

It has been a busy few weeks! The daily/weekly notification feature is complete. Most members have been rolled over to the weekly notification. Members that have been fairly active in the groups have been rolled into the daily notification. The instant notification is currently still not active, but that will be available soon. Also, a control panel that will allow you to adjust your level will also be available soon. Daily notifications are sent out at 11:30pm. Weekly notifications are sent out at 11:45pm on Sunday evening.

The summaries are a really good idea - something for everyone!
