It is interesting to note that those calling for mods to be voted out, or who support it, post on CT almost exclusively to stir the ****..

I assume that current mods have all been contacted and agreed to the last few actions taken, and acted as a small group that agrees on action needed, if thats the case, I would support steps and results made recently.
CT needs a clean up, anyone else whining and stirring crap can also join the banned group, see ya..

Please remember that this isn't a democracy......there is a site owner or owners, and what they say, goes. If you or I don't like it we can leave.

I actually think this site is far more democratic than others I frequent. We did get to vote for moderators after all.....give them and the new owners a chance.

Don't have any desire to read the entire thread, so only read the first 2 posts, as the rest is sure to be pointless politics. This used to be a good forum, but now some little whining, spoiled creature decided we need moderators, 'cause he or she couldn't handle the butthurt they received in one of the posts. You don't like a post, move on! Or create moderators so you could now complain how you don't like a moderator.

I think it is best to just reach out to an admin, mainly us, and let us know what the situation is, we will look into it, and proceed where necessary.

Sorry if I missed something, but ubishops was banned? He was one of the most consistant contributors to the site, even if his TR's were redundant. A sure way to kill CT is to ban the people who actually contribute to it.

I don't think Ubishops had safe practices in the mountains with respect to glacier travel and avalanche awareness. I would have hated for a death with people heading out snowshoeing based on his reports.

Surviving is important. Thriving is elegant.

I would like to know if he was banned or not. It was mentioned by a 'member' that they were glad that he was not spamming anymore. I don't see anything from an official source on that though.

It would be a major loss to the community if he was in fact banned. I plan most of my sea-to-sky trips based on his trip reports.

if you're not hiking you should be skiing

Ubishops is not banned, you can view his profile and see for yourselves.

If you are going to whine about someone being banned maybe you should see if that is even the case before you start whining, just a thought.

RGB never contributed anything but mindless drivel,I for one was glad to see him go(again).

LOL Like you usually do ;=)

Honestly, just let mods do their work. We voted 3 long term members, fantastic choices each in their own right. They are not actually paid to do this, so instead of trying to trip them at first chance we get, lets support them. Forum did need cleaning, and now trolls and others that contribute nothing except toxic controversy are already shooting themselves in the foot.

I hear you all, and have read every post. We want to keep this an open effective site, free and contributing to all who come and seek information, be it a small question about a bit of gear, or conditions or safe advise about some complex hiking/mountaineering plan to any one of many locations we have.

For one thing, we want this site to be free of any undu distraction or intimidation. We all are learning this role, and want to keep a good house for anyone to be happy to contribute, and to consult. This site has almost fifteen years of history, so there is plenty of informatio.

Many thanks to those who continue to contribute their reports, photos, and wisdom to this site.

[QUOTE=Marc;603769]

There is no way that everyone is going to be happy when a mod, moderates. Less so when they decide to drop the banhammer.

I agree with this^^^ But also agree with others that there should be a way for those that might not agree with certain actions to state their case no matter how great the moderators are or how much they are liked or trusted. They are human too

I would hope that if there were enough complaints about a moderator by enough different people something would be done. Just like what happens if enough people complain about a crumb of a member.

Chaos, Panic & Disorder----my work here is done.
