Default What are the Moderators up to?

Googling the topic "Viewpoints on west side of Black Mtn" brings up the deleted post if you go to the cached version. I see nothing in the post that would warrant deletion. Perhaps I'm missing something so it would be nice to have an explanation as to what happened to the post.

if you're not hiking you should be skiing

Agreed..

I don't think it would be too much to ask for the moderator to PM the thread-starter or poster and explain why his/her post or thread was removed.

I do agree with this. Most well run forums I am on the mods will leave a note when a post is altered/merged/removed etc with the reason why. Seems reasonable and fair as members are curious.

I am curious how you checked the cached version? I did google that phrase but cannot locate the cached version.

Thanks Lowclimber. I thought I was a Google power user but apparently not!

The problem, I guess, is the cabin talk?

I mentioned this a while back and I think it is a good practice I've seen on other forums.

You have a separate forum that is read only (only the moderators can post) with a quick summary of moderator actions.

Post YYY deleted due to off topic
User XXX suspended for 7 days due to profanity
etc.

The idea is to provide transparency on what is going on, without opening it up a gong show of people arguing if the action was "fair" or not

I second all the above questions!

Why was that member banned?

This is some pretty dodgy stuff here. And is not acceptable.

The same guy who trolled a bunch of BS about bike trails on the North Shore decided to try to troll about semi-secret cabins on the North Shore. Not interested in playing that game. He had been previously warned. Banned.

Also, not interested in a bunch of kibitzers bringing banned subjects back to life so, thread closed!
