Default How do you do a search on this site for a specific hike/mountain etc.?

Title of the subject self explanatory. On the page I see two things that says "search" on it. But they have nothing to do with clubtread.com and just takes me to something else. What is this??? I liked the old clubtread better

Search box is pointing to the wrong thing. So just Google directly something like:

site:forums.clubtread.com and snow and sucks

Hello,

You can use this link for advanced search, I will have them add it to the Tools > Quick Links drop down.

Use the search bar at the top right. Click on Advanced Search to search only on topic titles, or click on the pull down menu to switch between VBulliten and Google search.

I stumbled across www.portlandhikers.org the other day as i am planning a trip to Oregon.
Maybe Clubtread can get some ideas from the way it is set up. Among other features, they have a very user friendly search function.
ps this comment appeared under a different thread yesterday because it was automatically redirected by clubtread. It belongs in the "how do you search" thread

I cant get the search feature to work properly. The first issue I had was I couldn't get the search feature to work at all. The search buttons in the top right do not work. It was only after I stumbled onto this thread that I found out you had to do something else. If you have to do Tools-Search-Advanced Search then the buttons should be disabled.

The second issue is the advanced search doesn't seem to work properly. I searched for microspikes on all forums and I got more results than I wanted. So I tried selecting the Gotta Love Gear Forum then searched. No results came up. I tried other forums and no results came up. It seems that the advanced search feature only works when you search all forums.

The whole search feature on the new website just sucks. The old site was great. You did a search and your results got presented in a table that showed which forum category the results were in. I've given up using the search feature and I will just post things regardless if the thread already exists or not.
susied and Dru like this.

if you're not hiking you should be skiing

I think I figured out part of the problem that I was having. When entering keywords for the search it only finds them if they "Exactly" match. I was searching the keyword "microspike" and I did not get any forums that contain "microspikes". Search on "microspikes" and you will not get "microspike". That is quite "ungooglelike".

if you're not hiking you should be skiing

This works fine for me. Put microspikes in keyword box then select Gotta Love Gear then it narrows the search down to 14 threads.

Yep, can't even search for old trip reports now. So disappointing. I miss the site. Can't find any useful info anymore, can't browse on my mobile. Brings me to tears. Make us pay for the site, just make it work again! (Ah, 1st World Problems, right? Still, it makes me sad.)

You should be able to search them in two places

Look at the toolbar at the top of the section "Search this Forum":
https://forums.clubtread.com/6-trip-reports/

You can also search them here but choosing the direct section
https://forums.clubtread.com/search.php
