Question Support for Adding Photos to TR's

Maybe this has all been explained elsewhere, but I feel we should have a tutorial on how to put pics in TR's. A quick look through recent TR's shows three different methods and looks. For example:

https://forums.clubtread.com/27-briti...tml#post566650

https://forums.clubtread.com/27-briti...16-2014-a.html

https://forums.clubtread.com/27-briti...c-03-14-a.html

I like the big pics in the TR's, and even though I read through some suggestions in Simon's TR, it's not happening for me. Could management give us a run-down? If uploading pics continues to be a pain I'm sure some people won't bother.

Candy - it is really very very simple.

1) Upload your "assets" (photos) before writing TR text - drag&drop into that blue box "Drag Files Here to Attach"

2) Reference as you go along. Each photo has 2 properties: Thumb and Full size. Right mouse click on any pic in "blue box" will reveal both links. Then simply put that link inside [img] tag.

Old CT style clickable thumb that expands into full photo involves nesting of [img] and [url] tags (img pointing to thumb inside, url pointing to full size outside) but is not worth the trouble. Having looked at few TR's that show full size photos in text, it looks way better.

Thanks for trying to help.

So if I copy a pic url:

https://forums.clubtread.com/attachme...d=8186&thumb=1

And then paste it into my TR,

then put [img] at the beginning and end, it's supposed to make the pic big?

[img]https://forums.clubtread.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8186&thumb=1[img]

Obviously doing something wrong....

You are almost there

Tag is opened with [img] but closed with [/img] (needs backslash)
Second -- if you want that photo big, simply remove "thumb=1" part.

So: (instead of dummy, type img):

[dummy]https://forums.clubtread.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8186[/dummy]

You are welcome. Needed something other than "img", otherwise you wouldn't be able to see syntax. Should have used "dummy-tag" though

I can't get [img] photo [/img] to work and I can't get the paperclip function to work either. If I review the post and open the attached thumbnail to get full size picture then copy and paste it to the review post what I get is the large picture above.

I'm pretty sure I tried the copy and paste method you describe, and nothing would paste. Seems to be some inconsistancies around what people are able to do. Neither way is very effecient.

Simon - that is one way (open review post). Quicker way is:

1) right mouse click on pic in "attached thumbnails"
2) Note 2 things:
-- Copy Image Location: This is your thumb https://forums.clubtread.com/attachme...1&d=1418618769
-- Copy Link Location. This is your full blown pic https://forums.clubtread.com/attachme...6&d=1418618769

These 2 properties are actually the same, except for additional thumb=1

So if you want to show thumb, put "Image Location" inside "img" tag. I.e

If you want to show full pic, put "Link Location" inside "img" tag. I.e

And if you want to have inline clickable thumb (old CT style), you have to nest "url" (outside) and "img" (inside) tags. For instance:

[dummy-url-tag=https://forums.clubtread.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8306&d=1418618769]
[dummy-img-tag]
https://forums.clubtread.com/attachme...1&d=1418618769
[/dummy-img-tag]
[/dummy-url-tag]

(Click on thumb above and see it works)

I am unable to add a photo from my PC that is 114.6 KB. I can get it as an attached file, but no matter what I do I always get the error message:
The text that you have entered is too long (313277 characters). Please shorten it to 30000 characters long.

The text in my message is only a few lines long.

I also tried the [img] ... method which put the photo in the body of the message, but still the same error message.

I noticed the two methods; large and thumbnail. I have gotten used to thumbnail size. Large pictures would be nice, so each can be included in a narrative separately.

But then I am getting used to the thumbnail approach.

Have to practice next time with the large pic version.

K, where did you notice the two methods, and hopefully explanations for how to do both?

Read this thread from the beginning and it explains both "methods".

To sum up: When you upload the "attachment", do a right-mouse click then Copy Image Location. Presence (or absence) of "thumbnail=1" in URL string indicates Full Image or Thumbnail. Edit it to get what ("method") you want.
