One word of caution though, there is a part of the road on the way up that is eroding quite badly. Not sure if the parks service is going to repair it.

Thank you Crash; wonderful to know you hiked this beautiful area. Damfino Lakes is certainly the easiest way to get up there. I also noticed that crumbly section in the road, I think they are aware of even though it took two years for the park service to see the road repaired after that serious washout.
