I read on a facebook group that the bears are already out now - please stay out of this area despite it technically being open for two more weeks. A fed bear is a dead bear...

Does this mean accessing Keyhole Falls is a no go as well? I was planning to go in there a few weeks from now.

Take the chopper. No bears then.

Unfortunately the chopper isn't in my budget. I assume that's a yes and Keyhole Falls too is off limits. Wanted photos for the website, being one of the "over enthusiastic" contributors for the World Waterfall Database.

So, from the source, the falls are accessible. The only closure is specifically the springs and the trail to. So I know where I'll be on May 12th.

We drove up to the powerhouse at the very end of the road on Saturday.

I assume then no issues. Not worried about my vehicle, but am aware there was previously a creek you need to ford on the road before Keyhole. With the anticipated heat, I don't want any surprises.

Been scouring the Internet for a means to see the falls other than via a faint trail from the springs, which is a no go. I have resorted to buying a couple hundred feet of rope for a friend and I to use to safely explore the rim of the canyon for unobstructed views. Hopefully there's a way.

There isn't much trail from the springs. Or at least wasn't a few years ago back when they were officially open. Lots of devils club and boulder fields though. You can get a nice view from the trail that goes right to the top of the falls (or more properly the cliff above them), but I wouldn't want to try to go out the rim on either side myself...
