Default Needle peak

Hi all,

We want to hike needle peak in the next couple of days for the first time. Can anyone tell me if it is practical to bring dogs on the hike? Can they handle the scrambles. One dog is small and old, but I can throw her in the backpack if needed. The other is a 3 month old German Short hair pointer with lots of spunk. She has the energy, but I am wondering if the pitch is too steep or if the boulders are too big.

Also, is this hike affected by the wild fires?

Thanks, Randy

Saw few dogs yesterday on the trail so I assume they would be fine. Saw no wildfire effect (no fires, no smoke/haze) but these things change quickly.

Almost all dogs will not do the scramble here.

There's a picture of me with both of my labs on the Needle summit many years ago. What you don't see is the ordeal they went through getting up. Like EAK says, most dogs will hate it, except one's that do a lot of scrambling.
