Never made it to Assiniboine last summer. (because of the fire) We're going to try again this year. This time we have 2 vehicles and plan to hike in from Sunshine and come out the Shark end. We're thinking about staying overnight at porcupine but have heard bad reviews. 2 questions.
1 If we drop down into Porcupine can we continue on or do we have to climb back out.
2 I'm sure this is stupid but is there a water source there. (I've heard there is a 12 km stretch without water)
Thanks in advance.

Porcupine is an ok campground. Nothing fancy, I've stayed at a lot better, and some worse. It's not going to win a beautiful setting award, but a serviceable place to stay the night.

1. Yes you can continue on, there is a high route and a low route through Valley of the Rocks.
2. Yes, there is water at Porcupine, a creek runs through the campground.
