Default Coliseum Mountain

Thinking of hiking Coliseum Mountain this coming weekend, June 10, 2016. Is it possible to ride a bike to the trailhead or not? It seems like the first 7 km are a flat road from what I have read. Are bikes allowed there or not?

Depends what you consider a trailhead. From Lynn side it is 1.5 hr walk along Headwaters trail to marked junction (just before Norvan creek bridge). From LSCR side it is 9km (or more, depending where you park) gentle bike ride on paved surface.

You can ride a bike up the Seymour valley to that trailhead. It is paved except for the last few 100 metres, so you could take a road bike. For the Lynn Creek access, you have to walk because bikes are not allowed there.

If you go, I would appreciate a conditions update regarding trail/snow etc! Thinking of heading up later this month.

I am working my way through the 103 hikes book. So the trailhead I am thinking about would be just before Norvan creek.
Also as far as snow conditions go, if it is any help we hiked Alouette Mountain in a loop last weekend and ran into snow at about the 1100/1200m level. That being said we may leave Coliseum for a few weeks yet . It would be crappy to go a long way then get stuck with lots of snow before our destination.

I was thinking the same thing, which is why I hoped you'd sacrifice yourself for the greater good (of my hiking plans).

I try to help Jeff, I'm good like that ha!. We made the loop on Alouette but the snow really slows down your progress. We had to do some bushwack to get to the top as the creek bed which seems to be the route up that way was filled in with the white stuff.
