Sorry to inconvenience you Al but some signage could have helped the situation. I still have the lock and chain somewhere and I can return it to you if you would like. I assume it was your website that popped up when I googled access for the FSR on the way back to mission and I tried calling the contact number more than once with no answer, I really did try everything I could think of first. Also I don't know who Dormans is and if Tamahi had partial ownership of the lock why wouldn't they have informed me when I called them?

Hey Mike, thanks for the quick response!

Umm... Yeah there is no easy solution at the moment. Any signage gets shot up and ripped off.
The lock was a shared thing between me and Dorman's. They would always stop by my place and grab the key to my lock.
Then they decided just put their own combination lock on and let me know the combination so they didn't have to call me.
They also have many gates and you have to know who to speak with.

But I'm guessing you still have the lock and some chain and would be great if you drop it off next time your out!
Just call my number and I'll give you the address. That way I can put that lock back on.

Does your club have a designated person who looks after this area? So we can keep in touch? Or is it just whoever wants to
build the trail does the organizing? Would be good to chat with that person if so.

Our community has been working with BC Natural Resorses to get some regulation changes to the designated zone to cut out the shooters.
That will happen in the next month or two.

I forgot to mention in the last post that we are also cutting a trail from the Cascade Falls parking up to our Lower launch the log cut right above the parking
so we don't have to drive up all the time. This will be part of a new loop to he top of Mt.St. Benedict!

Cheers,

Al

I have an arrangement with the Virtue Ranch directly below the mountain near the dyke of Cascade falls.

So was thinking would be cool to provide a fun service to hikers that want to try something different...

do a hike up the Makey Lake trail to St.Benedict summit and then to our upper Launch site for a nice tandem flight to the bottom!

Call if your interested!

Interesting development in the area: loops are amazingly nice, so thanks for your efforts to develop another way of coming down from the peak
The actual FSR access is not a big deal: we now know is locked for good reasons and few hundred people reading this site won't try to cut the lock..lol

Ha Ha... vdg

Nice to have made some new friends in fellow hiking circles!

Loops are good... Especially if you can fly em!

This pic is Cody giving his knee's a rest and enjoying a ride around Benny ~
I'm back there too somewhere.

New Loop Link -----now------Completed!

As we are just finishing the Summit to Launch loop It would be great to get a bit of help trail grooming for establishment.
Or just Hike it... Nothing like Tread!!

Plus the loop down has great views! AS well as no large ankle turner rocks like that 1st section up to McKay Lake.

PM me for info on gate and trail if your doing maintenance.
