Default Golden Ears - Loop now complete

From BC Parks facebook page:

Exciting news for Golden Ears Provincial Park! The new bridge over Gold Creek has been completed and the East - West Canyon Connector Trail is open. This is now a loop hike, taking about 4-5 hours and is moderately strenuous.

Cool. I assume the bridge is where it says No Creek Crossing on this map:

I completed the loop back in November so I wonder why it took them so long to let the public know? The bridge is located and makes use of the old concrete pillars of the old logging road bridge roughly 250 metres east of where the burma bridge once was.

No - it's actually marked "bridge" on the map. They've updated the map.

Interesting! I wonder if this will result in a speedier access to Alder Flats, and beyond?

Good question, might be fun to try and see how long it takes.

I checked out the bridge today. It does feel like I could reach the Alder Flats campsite faster this way, as it bypasses some of the more technical stuff on the West Canyon side. 4-5 hours for the loop is definitely on the conservative side.

I did screw up a bit: I misremembered the map before going, and ended up taking the Lower Falls trail, and eventually ended up at the Upper Falls before I ran into someone who set me straight and pointed me to the connector trail to reach the proper trail. Even given all that, I still found that I made pretty good time!

I will definitely take this trail next time I head up to the Golden Ears.
