Does anyone have any info on the hike/scramble up to Beauty Peak? Ive heard its technically in the water shed.. how frowned upon is it?

I've never been to Beauty Peak, but I don't think the watershed thing is an issue. The lumberjack show on Grouse Mtn. is in the watershed, and they don't seem to care about that.

Just for my own learning, is Beauty the same as what they call Sleeping Beauty up there?

Hmm, I thought it was, but apparently not.

Seen from the West Vancouver shore the mountain has a distinct crown-like appearance. Seen from Vancouver it resembles a reclining human figure, hence the name, Sleeping Beauty. The western peak is sometimes called The Knees (of the Beauty) or Capilano Peak, but it must not be confused with Mount Capilano at the head of Capilano Creek.

Thanks so much for your quick replies! I did a bit more research and it seems that what I called "Beauty Peak" is also called Sleeping Beauty and West Crown. What was West Crown like? Technical?

I like the name Beauty Peak myself, but it's definitely not official. AKA Sleeping Beauty, West Crown, Crown Buttress.

The peak can be accessed from the watershed (not legal), or simply from the Crown Mountain trail. From the Crown side, it is mostly hiking, with one or two bushy sections, a fixed rope bit, and one step that's not technically difficult. I haven't been there in a couple of years, so I can't say if it's overgrown now or an actual trail. Things can change.

There's a bit of a trail now and some flagging. Route starts off from a small flattish area where you have a view of the peak from the Crown Trail (around 1380m el.).

I know it as West Crown as well and prefer that name.
Photo below illustrates the profile of the "Sleeping Beauty", as per Martin's description.

Thanks for the picture Mick. With the description I found and your picture, I see how it lines up now.
