Default Beginner backpacking options

Hi,

My brother wants to partake in his first over nighter this coming weekend and I have no idea where to take him. He has no experience. My first thoughts were Lindeman Lake or Elk, Elfin lake (some of my more favorite go-to's)but I'm slightly put off by the break-ins at the TH's that I keep hearing about and I worry that the climb might put him off altogether. Am I way off base? Any suggestions? We are willing to drive a couple hours. Thanks in advance!

Why not Manning? Strike Lake is downhill. No climb to put him off.

Or, Cheakamus Lake.

Lindeman lake does sound good. It was my first overnighter. Didn't have any break in issues. Really got me hooked on the whole overnight hiking. It's a short hike with some good scenes, perfect for beginners.

Think of this as my first mini-trip report! I lurk CT, ask tons of questions, you guys are a wealth of information but have never posted a trip report (I'm terrible with formalities)..... Anyway, we went with Dru's recommendation (Thanks Dru!!) . I was still a bit uneasy about Lindeman. My friend's all make fun of me- I always tell them I'm taking them on an easy hike and apparently, my hikes are never easy. Now that I have a better idea of my brother's abilities, I am sure he is capable of Lindeman. Considering this was his first hiking trip and over nighter, ever, he did quite well, over packed a bit, his bag was 40lbs but nonetheless he carried like a champ! He kept up with us, no problem. Cheakamus Lake proved to be exceptionally easy, very little elevation gain as promised. We went to the Singing Creek campsite. Both campsites were busy but nothing overwhelming. Weather was excellent too. Thanks again for the recommendations!
