Question 3 Day Hike

My boyfriend and I are planning a backpacking trip around BC for the beginning of August. We will be in Vancouver for the first 4 days, then hoping to find trail (or portion of a trail) to hike for 3 days. I have already looked into doing a portion of the WCT but we want to find something cheaper. We are now considering hiking the Sunshine Coast Trail (the southern end from Saltery Bay to Dixon Road, I was told this should take about 3 days). I am also considering hiking the Chief, but haven't been able to look into it yet.

We will not be driving so the hike must be accessible by bus, ferry or shuttle bus. We are open to any suggestions/ advice about these hikes or recommendations about another awesome hike.

if you only have three days, then travelling to WCT and Sunshine Coast Trail will eat up much of that time (while technically part of the BC mainland it takes 2 ferries to get to Sunshine Coast Trail - a bit of a haul esp round-trip and dependant upon bus schedules). if you want to maximize your time in the backcountry, and acces it without your own vehicle, then the Whistler area has merit (up to Overlord Mtn for example) as does Squamish area (up to Elfin and Mamquam as one example).
