Default Liumchen

Hello All!

I had thought that I had read that the road to the Liumchen Lake/LiumchenMt trailhead is once again driveable.

Is there anyone out there that can confirm this? I would like very much to head up and explore that area. I've seen such wonderful photos of the lake, Old Baldy, Church Mt, Liumchen Mt but really don't want to walk up a road for, what is it, eight or so km's before reaching the trail.

Any information regarding the road access and trail would be very much appreciated.

There's a **** of a lot of new snow up there right now. Don' think you will be driving much over 700 m elevation

We got to the trailhead in November, the road was as good as ever.
The ATV people have fixed it up nicely .

Thanks Mr. B!
I really appreciate the info and am looking forward to getting up there and doing some exploring!
Is access from Vance Rd or Tamhi logging road?

MR. B
the road was getting narrow in a few spots years ago, see any sections not fullsize friendly? ( as Quads seem to be taking care of biz..)

Boris, we took Lynn's new 4Runner up, no new pinstripes or dents at all
There are lots of narrow spots where it would be hard to get around another vehicle.

Bump, Has anyone been up to Liumchen lately? Looking for road conditions and approximate snowline elevation. Thanks!

Bump. I'm planning on heading up to Liumchen lake this coming long weekend. Has anyone been up there recently? What is the road condition and is there still any snow?

I also plan to head up there sometime in the near future, target is the Lumchen Mountain area which would entail a ridge walk and partial bushwhack combo.

A quick update. We went up to Liumchen lake on Saturday. I would say it's pretty much impossible to get to the trailhead without a 4x4. The final 1.5km of the road is blocked by a large fallen tree and must be hiked. The majority of the trail is quite clear with 3-4 fallen trees over the first 4km of the trail.
The meadows are still covered with snow but the trail markers are visible. Apline flowers are starting to blossom in the higher elevations. Most of the ground around the lake is wet with exception of a couple spots but we managed to find a 15'x15' area for our tent. I expect though that most of the snow will melt and the lake area itself will dry out within 2 weeks.
