Default Golden Ears Gate???

Just wondering if anyone knows when The Golden ears park gate switches from the 8am-5:30 pm winter hours to the spring summer hours. I'd like to do Blanchard with an early start and a leisurely return, but the lousy park hours at this time of the year are putting a damper on my plans.

I did Blanchard's Needle recently and when we came down at 5pm the nice gate keeper drove up to check for us(we informed of our plans in the morning). He may likely give you some leeway as he said there were others in the park that he was collecting as well and he thought the gate would be open till 6 pm. I don't know the answer to your question though! If you are stuck u call the emergency number on the back of the gate and they will come out for you on their time frame(same day)!

How were conditions on the needle when you were up there?

Is there cell phone reception at the gate?

Going from memory I thought the reception out there was virtually nonexistent.

I don't know about reception at the gate...you might have to walk. The conditions on the climb were like July. We went up over Alouette and after Blanchard down flys gulley. That was a mistake as the gulley is incised deeply at the bottom and like descending interminable moraine rubble. I would for sure go back up and over Alouette next time.

I believe it's April 1st when they flip to 7am-11pm gate times.
Usually winter hours from Thanksgiving to March 31st.

There is an actual phone attached to the side of the gatehouse and yes, cell reception is variable throughout the park... usually half way up where ever... Alouette/Evans/Nutt/Alder Flats you will get a signal.

Nice avatar picture Rob. You should send that picture to Calvin Klein, they might offer you a job as a male underwear model runway.

Here is a nice vid of the scramble version of it:
