Default Wendy Thompson Hut/Marriott Basin current trail condition?

Our big group of 14+ will head to Wendy Thompson Hut this coming weekend, I am wondering if anyone here has been here recently? is the lake frozen solid for crossing?

Thank for any information you might provide!

haven't been lately, but with mostly freezing temps for a few weeks its likely solid to walk on, use caution and spread out with recovery gear, but the shoreline is easy to use in most cases where the trail follows. evaluate slide paths if/when crossing, depending on conditions that day. I would suggest the snow pack is low right now, making the boulder parts slow and icy with voids, take care.

There's about a foot of snow on the access road with a good track laid. Plenty of tracks going towards WT Hut. The lake is frozen but I only saw it from afar so have no idea of how thick the ice is.

Snow isn't that deep but there's a hard layer lower down so postholing into boulder cavities should be minimal.

The trail was in good condition, the cabin heater works but we didn't use the cabin stove, the hut was not as very clean as we were last time in 2012, hope every WTH user takes good care of it. we skirted the lake edge on the way in and crossed the lake on our way out, have a great one this weekend!

We've booked Wendy Thomson hut for this weekend and I am wondering, how is the current condition. Would it be OK just with snow shoes or ICETREKKERS?

Hard conditions in the forest from the end of the access road to Climax Meadows. Temps warming this weekend might change this, but it was cold two days ago and not pleasant through the trees. You want traction devices.

Kac, please give us an update on the state of the barrel in the biffy. We need to know if it is close to exchange time.

Fun is where you make it...

Anyone know what conditions are like around the hut? good base? Are rocks covered?

I have a trip up for middle of March. Can't find condition reports anywhere in the Duffy.
