Default Callaghan Lake for car camping?

I'm wondering: Is Callaghan Lake Prov Park a pleasant place (sorry for the alliteration...) to car camp with a kid? I've only been around there in winter...
Thanks

It's not very nice. That campsites are all in a somewhat rehabilitated parking lot. Calcheck campground would be nicer.

When I was last there 10 or 12 years back camping there were a couple of culverts to cross that my friends car had difficulties negotiating. There's that to consider too. A pretty lake though with nice views. The lodge is nearby too.

It's a nice lake, but not so nice to car camp, unless you get it all to yourself. People come and go all the time. You'll feel you're camping in a hallway. You could find a more quiet spot with a little walk away from the parking lot, but it's not going to be 100% car camping by then.

kind of parking lot camping, decent spot, rough car approach, busy in summer with all kinds of weirdos and loud people, still worth checking out though. 50/50 chance of having a decent experience and camp spot. too bad as the area has loads of potential, even if maintained at an entry level..wish they'd get a handle on this one. bloody embarrassing to let such a good spot go to ruins.

My 1991 Jetta packed with 5 bodies ( live ) made it to the lake as the road is driveable although could use a good grading. I would not have a problem car camping there however other people would . It depends on what you want and how many other campers are there. Hard to have a wilderness experience when some idiot is playing music loud enough to be heard from the highway.
