Default Any snow up at Elfin Lakes yet?

I'm planning on doing an overnight to Elfin Lakes, Wed. Oct. 1 - Thu. Oct. 2.

Is there any snow up there past Red Heather yet? If there is, then approximately how much?

Thanks!

Snow only falls in freezing temperatures.

Was up on the Gargoyles this morning for sunrise. You can see a tiny bit on Atwell peak from the last week of rain. Will still be another month before you'll be stepping in snow. Sometimes we get a bit in the 3rd or 4th week but anything before that usually melts when the sun comes out Last year looking back on my diary, it was sunny almost every day in October so will depend on if we have any rain

Amazing photo I took on my way out:

Though the weather is quite a bit different this year, I was skiing in the alpine on Oct. 2 last year.

Was up on Saturday Sept 27th, no snow what so ever, just a little dusting on the peak of Atwell. Things can change fast though at this time of year though.

Thanks for the replies!

I've been to Elfin Lakes and stayed in the shelter there twice, but only ever in the winter.

That shelter is open at this time of year, right? It never occurred to me to think of that until now.
