Default West Lion Rope Missing

Hey guys, I just bivied on the summit of the West Lion last night and I just wanted to let everyone know that the black rope used to lower oneself down to the saddle is now gone. The down climb is a little tricky but it can still be done.

Good luck!

RIP west lion rope. I truly did love that trusty old thing.

I noticed that too. It seems someone should just add in a new one. I think it was useful, one less down climb to worry about.

Wouldn't it be better to take your own rope along and use it rather than rely on something somebody else has placed.....it's not always easy to evaluate the condition of a rope that has been subject to the elements and numerous uses for who knows how long.

Didn't a pair of ClubTread members remove that rope several years ago? IIRC, it was more of a liability than an aid to anyone thinking that it would save their life if they had to full-weight it.

you do not want to use the old rope there, see Serguei's WEST Lion TR (2014-JUN-18) on CROSSNA for your reference:

Ryl, they never removed the old rope into the notch. Now it has also been removed.
