You might like the Charlotte Lake Alplands.
Mt Edziza would be another good choice, but flying in or out is typical.
If comfortable with glacier travel, Ape Lake is a grand basecamp destination.
The South Chilcotin is another great choice if you don't mind seeing the odd horse or mountain biker.

Why did you not include Tingle Lake?
it would likely take 6-8 days return, maybe more and be sooo memorable.

Well the question was backpacking not bushwacking.

fine, good answer.
No need to dish out punishing wilderness trips to newcomers.
But maybe he'll consider it.

You could start on the highway in Kootenay or at Sunshine go into Assiniboine, down the Palliser and along the continental divide to Elk Lakes. I'd have to pull my maps out to give better details but that would be a long trip with some great scenery and varying difficulty.

Hey guys just going through some of the suggestions and I realize a lot of them seem to involve glacier travel.

I'm going in August so I was just wondering, which of these places can I do without heavy gear for the cold?
I would prefer a place with warmer weather.
