Default Any firewood left at Brew Hut and Keith's Hut?

Just wondering because it's late in the season.
Also how do the catalytic heaters at the Phelix creek/Waddington hut compare, will they heat up the place or just good for drying a few wet items.
I remember the large kerosene heater at Wendy Thompson hut generated decent output but it stank and I had to turn it off during the night.

Just trying to decide the nicest cosiest place to spend a few days this week.
Thanks.

I never had a problem with the heater (smell) at Wendy Thompson hut. Can't comment on the others, haven't been to Keiths in a few months.

It looks like it could be a wet and stormy week, so wherever you go, make sure you know your avy safety and have some nice waterproof layers. Should be some good pow up high though!

I believe there is still firewood at the Brew Hut. It may not be sized to fit in the stove, so plan on cutting it up (look in the possibly buried woodshed).

The catalytic heater(s) at the Phelix Hut don't really put out enough heat to get the whole hut warm, but they don't hurt. Certainly enough to do some drying or warm your feet or hands. Bring white gas.

According to this TR, the heaters don't work at Waddington hut.

We were at Brew Hut a few weeks ago (https://www.clubtread.com/sforum/topi...TOPIC_ID=38770) and there was wood left in the shed, but the shed was totally buried. Read my TR...

It's pretty hard to "break" a catalytic heater, so my first inclination is to guess at some sort of user error (no offense to anyone!). They aren't particularly easy to light. I think there is a "new" big one up there that actually needs an alcohol gel to light.

But it is certainly best to not count on them working... and if you can get them running, bonus.

The VOC frequently gets complaints about the coleman stoves not working, and when we go to fix them (once we hauled in another one), they work fine. Of course, sometimes things really do break...
