I am Jonathan's mom. I just want to thank the members who come to help us to find Jonathan and Rachael. We have no luck this time but we don't stop. I have to know what's happened to them and I and Rachael's family want them back. Thank you so much. God bless you all.

Hello,

Sorry for the re-posting (i posted this in another thread), but this seems to be a more popular thread on the subject.

The searches of August 2011 happened and nothing was found... unfortunately. We won't stop there. We will find out what happened to Jonathan and Rachael.

If you want to see pictures of Saxifrage and Cassioppe that we took during our trip there. For those of you who have never seen those peaks, it might give you some inspiration to go there next summer!

Please, the more people who walk that trail, the more chances we have of finding something.

I split the photos in a few blog posts as I had so many to share. Leave a comment to encourage people to go there!

Check the photos at:

Thank you for reading and believing in our cause!

I was planning on going this year but due to the high snow year I decided next year would hopefully be better. It's on my list. My thoughts are with their families.

The snow load this year messed up our plans for a trip to this magnificent area. The photos continue to give us reason to get back up the Spetch ck road and hi-tail it to Valentine lake next year. Was just up at pemberton and d'arcy. Can't go there without thinking of these lost fellow hikers.

What a blessing it would be if someone should finally solve this mystery.

On the hike up the road this summer, I noticed a lot of flagging on the road and many of the flags were marked with XD. I assume that next spring (maybe this fall) they will fix the washout and then brush/cross ditch the road to the end. That will make access even easier for someone with a mountain bike or 4WD.

Does anyone know if they are working on the road this fall? The last trip report I saw was in August.

Are there deep crevasses up there? moats and shrunds? I guess it is more complex than the south coast.

I can answer to your questions. I am Jonathan's mom, and in August 2011, we hired 3 professional mountain guides who searched the crevasses and they did not find anything, not a clue. If you have any other questions please ask or if you have any kind of ideas of what happened to my son and Rachael, please tell me; we want to know what's happened to them.

I have wondered about the "moats" that are created in gullies , ravines, cliff bottoms etc when snow melts faster next to rock. I've wondered how hard it is to climb out of those.
I assume people fall/slip off cliffs etc in fog and come to rest in different types of holes at the bottom and might be covered by small avalanches.

Slothboy, here's a picture of the area taken from the summit of Oleg above Place Glacier at the end of July 2011. Some pretty rough terrain in spots. Late snow this year made things difficult too for searching.

A CT member had a bad fall into a moat on The Old Settler a few years back. Thankfully that one ended well.
