There is another trail from the end of the West Bay road that intersects the original. It means a walk over to west bay then a hoof along the new trail to the original trail It's a nicer route avoiding the woodlot licence and the gravel pit confusion. check it out here:

BTW, did you see if the geo cache is still under the rock at the summit?
Thanks! Yes, I saw that report, logistics for the original route seemed easier so we stuck with that. I turned over a couple rocks at the summit cairn looking for the register but didn't find it or the geocache. Could've just missed them though, too. Make sure you post some pics when you head up!
