Default Stand Up Paddleboard - good for tripping?

Stand up paddleboarding seems to really be catching on where I live. But has anyone used or seen them used for packing gear for camping?

I'm wondering:

-how much weight in gear can be taken and is a larger board needed to do this?

-how is gear strapped down (seems like most boards have nothing to strap things down with)?

-what kind of water conditions are needed?

Or is this just a dumb idea compared to what can be done with canoes/kayaks
