Mt. Baker - Yellow Aster Butte Oct.20/18
This hike is one of the beautiful medium effort hikes in the National Baker Forest; been up this trail several times and always enjoy its beauty. Whether it was spring, summer, fall or winter.
This trip showed autumn colours were still rich on this trail despite the high elevation and late in the season. There had been a light snow before but all but melted off. One patch of last winter snow remained a little more than half way up. It was frosty cold at 1'C in the valley, but during the day it warmed up to shorts and teashirt temperatures. somewhere near 20'C. Stats for this hike: 800 meters cumulative elevation, 14 km return, and about 5-1/2 hours including lunch.
Lots of cars parked near the trailhead, but considerably less than the previous weekend.
Trail was rich in autumn colours for much of the way, excpet for the grunt section through the dark green forest.

Such a pretty area, there is so much hiking around there. So did you see anyone go for a swim?
Yes fabulous place, especially with autumn colours. Did not see anyone brave enough to take the plunge in the lakes.
Beautiful fall colours, and looks like you had perfect weather!
