Mt. Winchester & Lone Jack Mine Oct.13/18
Second hike in two weeks, yeah.
Met with Ziff and rode in his vehicle. You take the Mt. Baker Highway and turnoff for Yellow Aster Butte, once there you keep on going over a stretch that requires high clearance. Did some some cars which I am so surprised they were pushed that hard up. Likely they pay for repairs later on.
Beautiful bluebird day, and so many hikers. Yellow Aster Butte had cars parked well above and below the parking area, likely four times what it could hold. Winchester was almost full but no so crazy. Our hike started up Winchester, 1-1/2 hrs 3.25 km; and then down. From there we hiked down a road cordoned off to traffice. 4.5 km from parking down hill loosing 250 meters elevation we had to regain plus ... Elevation gain from parking by Twin Lakes to summit is a little over 400 meters gain.
The pictures tell the story.
Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............
