MT. Baker - snow & mist -feel for Artist Point Ridge Mar.12/17
A small group of us got together for a trip to Mt. Baker.
This was to be a short day, with hope of traversing south of Table Mountain. However sunshine gave way to heavy snowfall, and very reduced visibility.
So we settled for a trip up to the ridge and back, with a side-trip to Baglie Lake to see the Stone Bridge.
Thanks to Zofia Krsytyna, KJ Ivanka, Wilf, Alice and Alex for joining me on this outing.
Visibility was very poor with falling snow and mist (mountain top clouds), made it a real challenge to find my way and lead the group to the top of the ridge, where the summer parking area is buried by 4 to 5 meters of snow.
Stone Bridge is visible with a small pool of open water; 2.5 meters covering it, adjacent rocks have 4+ meters snow cover on them.
Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............
