Ok..so really, the hardest part of this trail was trying not to get my sneakers and ankles caked in mud because the trail was a mess from rain, horses, bikes, etc.
I was down in Bellingham today with me, myself and I..oh, and Clifford of course..
After Clifford gave me the stink-eye when I told her that she would have to wait in the truck for a bit while I power-shopped, I decided to go for a little walk first to appease her.
Lake Padden is on Samish Way, just a couple of miles past the REI store..a nice way to add some fresh air to your Bellingham shopping adventures.
One side of the lake is flat gravel with lots of benches and places to just sit and enjoy the park. Then you can opt to go up a few hills into the trees onto the muddy trail to Padden Ridge..or stay on the gravel and complete the loop that way. These trails are #26 and #27 in the HIKING WHATCOM COUNTY book.
The forest was quite beautiful with ferns and moss and huge trees. Back at the lake, it was really windy and nice to sit and watch the ducks bounce around on the waves in the lake.
Not hardcore, but a nice, relaxing walk when you only have a couple of hours to spare.
