All I've heard is that the amount of snow is "low" which forced my mountaineering club to move its scheduled self-arrest & snow anchor course from Artist Point to the south side of Baker this past weekend.

I would expect snow to be quite soft and mushy at that level except for the morning firm up after night-time coolness. Strachan at a little over 1400 meters had patchy snow. Artist point is around 1550 meters, so snow depth should be less than 1 meter and patchy in terms of depth and exposure....

Still would need snowshoes if you want to the hit the trail, and beware possible wet avalanche on south side of Flat top (Table) Mountain.

I love that bridge. Anyone know the history of it? I believe the Heather Meadows Visitor Centre is a National Historic Site or whatever the US calls it, but what about the bridge?

That bridge is a beautiful piece of work, obviously a lot of time and love went into building it.

Perhaps googling this subject will reveal the answer.

An easy hike from Heather Meadows Visitor Center is Bagley Lakes.

Longer and with more elevation gain is Chain Lakes Loop. I like starting at Heather Meadows and going up the Wild Goose trail to Artist Point, Table Mtn, Iceberg Lake, Herman Pass, then down to Heather Meadows. This is the opposite direction from the way described in the link.

Couldn't find any info on the stone bridge.
