Default Long Canyon- Mar 1 2019

This trail starts a few miles north of Sedona. We were attempting to do some higher elevation hikes, but reports indicated snowshoes would be needed. This trail became constant snow after little over a mile.
We crossed the creek half a dozen times with lots of red rock formations around us. The trail was obvious to about 3 miles. At this point it went down to the creek and didn’t come out. The snow was knee deep here. I spent about half an hour wandering about tripping over buried rocks then turned back. Lynn found some large icicles on the way back.
I noticed a easy slope heading up the side of a rock formation which we followed 100 feet up to an awesome perch with some fantastic views.....lunch time!
The return trip was very nice except for the soaked feet.

Lovely pics. We were there last year in January and had less snow/ice than you saw this past week. What are the day time temps like?
