Default Shangri-la over night

A beautiful day yesterday for our trip into the valley just under Little Shovel Pass that has the cabin called Shangri-la nestled in the trees. We pick up the trail off Maligne lake road, up through the trees and along the creek.
Snowed late in the afternoon and into the night...to an accumulation of 7 cm. we were very hopeful we would be snowed in but no such luck!
Headed out in this morning to look for the campground and gain some turns.
Came out today in wonderfully warm temps -8 and continued snow. The creek has heaved up some so the crossing is different this year.

Great shots Cindy. I never thought that I would say this, but I'm anxious to get back to the cold and snow. I'm glad that you had a great trip

I'll be staying at maligne Hostel this weekend. I've heard about that trail, but I'm not sure where to find the TH. What's the avy risk?

the trail head is just over the bridge on Jeffery creek, on Maligne lk road, there is a parking area there. You cross the creek and continue along the winter trail. The avy risk is high on Aberhart's (I think that's the name) nose but into the trees on Little Shovel pass the risk is much less. No risk to speak of on the trail in. Of course we have had snow since then so the risk will be different from when we were there last week.
