I'm soon to buy an new GPS to replace my old eTrex serial port Legend. I was looking at the Backroads maps. From what I understand the BR GPS map comes on a SD card. Does anyone know if there is any software limitations switching the card between other GPS units (friends, work)? I can't see any limitations. Also, can one transfer the map files to a larger SD card if one is needed?
Thanks for what might be a dumb question.

The SD card is not locked to a particular device so you can move it between them freely.
If you want to download the maps into Basecamp, you'll need to generate a key for use on your PC. I've never tried authorizing my backroad maps on a second PC, so I'm not sure if there is a limitation that way.
Thy used to offer a CD version which could be loaded into GPSr memory with map installer. Not sure if they still offer that option or not. Downside of the SD card option is you loose that memory expansion slot (probably not an issue for most folks - but definitely an issue for some).
