PeakFinder vs PeakVisor apps

I am thinking of getting one of these app and I am wondering if anyone here is using them.

I am especially interested on how good they are for PNW, Vancouver and Whistler area. are you guys able to identify the mountains around? pros/cons?
I know both apps have pretty good databases for the Alps and Rockies (that's what a lot of reviews mention) but could not find too many people using them in PNW.

Thanks!

Hello Kore,

PeakVisor developer (one of) here.

There are some people using it there for sure. We even improved some data from their feedback. Honestly, I think Canadian mountain names data should be mostly the same, yet PeakVisor has more detailed information (a.e. Wikipedia integration, topographical prominence / ultras, etc).

You can check data quality on the website. Open the Mountain Explorer there and search for any mountain, click on it and see what other mountains are visible from there. Here's a view from Mount Seymour

BTW, You might find PF vs PV comparison in the news section of the website.

Thanks,
Denis.

Thanks Denis, appreciate the reply :)

I did check out the website and I found that PeakFinder has a little more mountains listed for PNW. To be honest I like your layout better and I might end up getting both apps.
It would be really great if you could update this area (Coast Mountains and North Cascades). let us know how we can help! :)

You are welcome, Kore :-)

The easiest way to get the data updated is just to let me know the exact name and location of a missed mountain. I'll find why it was missed and fix it with my colleagues. My email is denis at routes.tips (I reply there faster)

Recently, we made another iteration of Canadian data improvement. Hopefully, you wont be able to find a missed peak :-)

Thanks,
Denis.
