Apps to ID Mountains?

I am interested in trying an app to identify mountain names. There are several available, and I was looking at one called Peakfinder Earth. Has anyone tried this or any others. I hike primarily in southwest BC, in the Squamish area.

I have used the old version, PeakFinder and found it a bit quirky. It worked mostly okay but sometimes had the direction way off. Hopefully the new version PeakFinder Earth is an improvement.

Just look at Google Earth. Most of the names are made up/not official though

Thanks for that but this is an app you use to point your phone at the mountains and it names them for you while you're up there!!

I have been using the new version of PeakFinder all summer and have found it extremely useful. It has the names of so many small peaks you never new even had names. There is the odd issue with calibrating your phone's magnetometer since it can drift (this is the case with any app that uses the phones magnetometer though). However you can also apply a manual offset to correct for any compass oddities as well as manual offsets for elevation if the GPS data isn't super accurate at your location. I think this is one of the best apps out there - its simple yet so powerful and the art style is beautiful imho. The new version will also show you exactly where the sun will set/rise based on your elevation which is really helpful.

Great, thanks. I decided to get it.
I haven't taken it to the mountains yet but it's pretty cool!
