The BC IMAP site is outstanding. I always print letter sized paper topo maps from that site. Once you know your way around their interface you can compose maps at whatever scale with almost any info you need. Then just print them out . excellent, free service. Your tax dollars at work!

Does anyone know what layer you add to get a shade on forest cover areas on the imapBC site, like most topo maps have?

when you set up your map make sure you select 'terrain' under the BASE MAP drop down. Here's a screen grab:

The resultant PDF will have some shading, the amount of which depends on the various options you select. I don't use it for my printable PDF's because it uses too much ink

Under 'Imagery' in the layer selection you can choose 'Hillshade Scanned Colour Maps' > choose your resolution. You can also choose: 'reports & printing' > 'export map' > choose the format and a full color, shaded and printable image will be produced

Around the World Maps Maps on Columbia Street, New West used to sell the lot when I lived there 3 years ago, the shop keeper Ron is a very nice guy! They also stock all the flags of countries around the world which I also enjoyed looking at!
