Default Google Earth 5.2

Apparently (according to MEC Facebook), Google Earth 5.2 has a bunch of new features, including ways to map your hikes and it gives you graphs showing elevations and other details. I downloaded it, but I can't seem to find any of these nifty upgrades. Any suggestions?

Haven't tried it, but you've been able to download your gps tracks since GE 5.0.

But now you can animate them:

I just got a Colorado 300 and was maping my trek out.. I noticed that I could view my trek in Google earth so I downloaded this new version and clicked the button in the garmin mapping software. I was really amazed at what was shown. I could pan down and look close at where I was planning on going. Very cool!.. havent looked at the elevation graphs or anything yet. I will need to look into that stuff.

I found a down side to this new version.
My garmin is a little older and all my customized GPS.gpx file tracks from MapSource will not load into this new version.
It gives me this error message instead.

It's a good thing I saved Version 5.1.
I uninstalled this version 5.2 and reinstalled 5.1 and now all my gpx files load and display in Google Earth again.

Anyone else have this problem?

Any idea what's on line 639 of the file? You can open GPX files in any text editor.

5.1 can also be downloaded from http://earth.google.com/download-earth-advanced.html by selecting "Previous Version (5.1)"

I've also noticed that some polygons will not display. A work around is discussed at http://www.google.com/support/forum/...98c0437e&hl=en

Rick...
Maybe you can download and save it on your Desktop and then right click on the file icon and try installing it in compatability mode.
If it needs Flash Player to run there is no Flash Player developed yet for Windows 7 X64.

Same thing for IE8 Win7 X64. Any web pages you bring up that require Flash Player will not run correctly or even load.

The work around is to download IE8 32bit and have both until Flash Player X64 comes out.

No and I am not going to count down to it.
Wordpad showed better reading order than notepad which just jumbled it all up.

If I had a editor that numbered the lines then I would have checked it out.
I still may sometime because I am wondering also what is causing this error.
I will try vista or Win7 editors maybe they will number the lines.

It comes up in all my gpx custom files but not in the ones I did not customize in MapSource.
It must have something to do with labeling waypoints ect. through MaySource that 5.2 does not like.

GoogleEarth 5.1 works good for now.

NotePad++ is a small freeware editor that shows line numbers.
