I tried to use the upgrade feature in google earth 5.1 version. And it keeps coming up with a error to the URL google earth directs you to for download...
Tried downloading it directly from google earth web site and same error.

Try turning off your firewall before opening it.

I found a down side to this new version.
My garmin is a little older and all my customized GPS.gpx file tracks from MapSource will not load into this new version.
It gives me this error message instead.

It's a good thing I saved Version 5.1.
I uninstalled this version 5.2 and reinstalled 5.1 and now all my gpx files load and display in Google Earth again.

Anyone else have this problem?
Have you tried to download from Microsoft and install the last version of MSXML Parser?

What do you folks think of this data set? It's from the Mapitfirst package (just a sample area of course). I've taken out many of links and information due to copyright issues. Download the file from the link below and unzip it. Open up Google Earth and simply 'open' the files. You can do them all at once. Let me know if the symbols come across. Most of them should be obvious.

What's cool is you can set the transparency of the map so you can see both the map and the sat image. To do this, click on the map sheet in the Layers list (82O04) and use the transparency bar below. All the icons have links to something or rather. I'm always adding more but this should give you a sense. I'd like to pretty it up some more so any ideas, feel free to post them.

I don't know what to do with this type of stuff. It's got lots of possibilities, I just don't know if there's a demand or if it's just fluffy cool stuff to look at. I do like the 5.2 Google Earth features. The elevation profile is a goood feature for trip planning.

Hi,

Instead of using the hyperlink that your browser will show you, make sure to manually copy it and paste in your browser:

http://www.mapitfirst.ca/updates/sam...ta%2082O04.zip

There is a space in "sample data", that confuses most browsers. If you copy it manually things do work

Found out you can not use ampersands in discriptions for Waypoints like; Road & Trail Meet.
They worked in 5.1 but do not work in 5.2 beta.
Also 5.2 has a different opening box that pops up when you load in the GPS Track.
I have to change the default selections.

Create KML Tracks - take out and have no check in that box.
Create KML LineStrings - check or put in check mark in that box.
Adjust altitudes to ground height - put check in that box.

Also my Mapsource program finally has updates which show direction the tracks were plotted in.

This happens with Windows XP, I do not know if it happens with Vista and/or Windows 7, 32 or 64 bit.

Zoom down to the track and click the hand cursor on it or if you click on a track point the cursor will change to a arrow. As long as you click on that track some how then you get the delete options.
Then go to top left corner and click on, EDIT, and in the drop down click on, DELETE, and DELETE CONTENTS.
Keep repeating by clicking on one and then the other until all tracks, logs and waypoints are deleted and the only thing it allows you to delete is GPS DEVICE.

But even better after you load a track simply go to, EDIT, and then click on DELETE, before you exit from Google Earth. Or if you click on the, X, in top right corner a box will show and then click on DISCARD and the track will not be on Google Earth next time you load it.

PS. Please note that the upper case words in the above text does not signify yelling but rather a clear understanding of what to click on apart from the other text in the paragraph.
