NTS Whistler 92 J 2
Has anybody noticed that on this map the Wedgemount Lake trail is not marked. Is there a reason for this?
The last time the NTS maps were updated was in the 80s. Perhaps that's the reason. If the map datum is NAD27, the publication date is probably 1970's or earlier. If the trail is not visible on the aerial photos that the maps were created from, it wont be on the more recent government maps either.

In general, no hiking trails at all are marked on NTS maps.
Ive got mostly NTS maps and there are load of trails marked...My map says its current to 1989. Guess they just missed the trail...
Trails or logging roads?
Anyway, a very small percentage (if any) of trails I hike on are actually shown on the NTS maps. |
ditto what the rest are saying. i think my Manning Park map is the only govnt map that has trails on it.
Maybe federal trails, like the popular ones in Banff.
most trails are not on the maps. at least the do show the logging roads to get to the trails, although with the age of the maps, even that is highly outdated, but between those maps and the wiki/ 103 hikes/ trip reports/ backroads mapbook/ whatever other guidebooks you use, it all comes together nicely
