Default Snaring River Airfield, Jasper

Was camping in Snaring River Campground a few days ago and found a big long clearing by way of the trail that leaves from the walk in sites. There's a red sign on a post that says 360, and a electrical relay post 100m away from the river. Was this an airfield back in the day? Couldn't find any info looking online.
There's a nice bull elk that shows up every evening at sunset though.

Also, I took the trail that leads from the walkin sites from riverside to the end of the ridge to where it drops back down again. How far does this trail go? Doesn't appear on the two maps I looked at in MEC.

That's not an airstrip, it's a pipeline.
