Default Ticks - submit for testing

http://www.health.alberta.ca/documen...-InfoSheet.pdf

Turn the little buggers in to help monitor Lyme disease etc.

That link will also take you to how to remove them etc, it will not, however, give you any advice on how to explain to your neighbors why you stripped naked on the deck in order to be let into your house after a hiking trip. []

You mean I have to go hiking before I run around naked in the back yard?

I pulled one out of a my sleeping bag a couple months back!... it got in the tent, and into the bag. noticed when I opened bag. thank god the bag was bright yellow and not black.

spent 20 mins going through everything in the tent before going to bed. it wasn't a fun sleep. I thought I felt something on my leg 10 mins in...

What if an Albertan visiting BC gets a tick. Should he/she take it home for examination or leave it in BC ?

Does BC have a similar testing process?

Yes, when I got a tick back in March I had it removed in Emerg, and they sent it off for testing. The likelihood of a tick carrying Lyme varies in various parts of the province.

Interesting. I wonder if they want Rocky Mountain Wood Ticks, I've seen over a dozen in the last few weeks. According to their website, they don't carry Lyme disease.

Marko, I'm assuming they want all ticks as many people wouldn't have the skill to ID the different kinds. But they do ask that you call first - perchance they would walk you thru an ID over the phone to avoid wasting peoples time submitting.
