I was just thinking of what I was doing 50 years ago today.

I hiked the first stretch of the trail from the trailhead to the Spencer house which was still standing at the time just uphill of Hansen Lagoon.

That is great memory, and isn't it interesting how great outdoors forever stamp our lives

I never hiked any of great Island "beach" hikes, but sincerely hope I will, if these 'stick to your enclave' travel restrictions ever end

Hoping for the North Coast Trail in 2021. Just received the Wildcoast trail map to study/fantasize.

Do you have any photos to share. We just completed the NCT in September and I'd love to compare then and now.

I've got an issue with my scanner.

I only took slides in 1971 but took photos in 1975 when I hiked up there from Holberg three times, once with my 58-year-old mother in law. I thought she was old. I'm ten years older that that now!

The Spencer house ( the last remaining dwelling from the settlement) I stayed in in 1971 was burned down later in '71 by a mentally ill guy who thought it was "evil."

There were cabins I knew of there at the time so didn't have to camp in a tent either.
